BMW motorcycle history began in 1921 when the company commenced manufacturing engines for other companies. BMW introduced the first motorcycle under its own name in 1923 – the R32. BMW current lines are the F & G series singles, F series twins, R series, K series, HP2 series and the S1000RR sport bike.
Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. is an Italian company that has designed and manufactured motorcycles since 1950. Ducati is owned by the Audi division of the Volkswagen Group through its Italian subsidiary Lamborghini. Current lines are the Monster, Multistrada, Diavel, Hypermotard, Superbike and Street Fighter.
Gilera is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1909. In 1969, the company was purchased by Piaggio. Their most famous model was the Saturno. After World War II, Gilera dominated Grand Prix motorcycle racing, winning the 500 cc road racing world championship six times in eight years.
Formed in 1963, Kawasaki motorcycles are manufactured by the Motorcycle & Engine division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries at plants in Japan, USA, Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand. Current lineup includes the Ninja, Versys, Vulcan and Concours.
