Stretch

In modern use, a stretch limousine is a luxury sedan or saloon car, with a lengthened wheelbase, usually driven by a chauffeur. The chassis of a limousine may have been extended by the manufacturer or by an independent coach builder.

As the most expensive form of automobile ground transportation, limousines are culturally associated with wealth or power and are commonly cited as examples of conspicuous consumption. Among the less wealthy, limousines are often hired during special events (most commonly weddings, proms, and bachelor parties).

Just as these limos are powerful with sleek, exaggerated lines so are these paintings, where the images have been stretched and enhanced – the result being an abstraction while still containing elements of the original car (Cadillac El Dorado, Duesenberg, Buick Skylark, Austin-Healey, Mercedes and Ferrari).
