Jaguar Cars is a luxury brand of Jaguar Land Rover, a British multinational car manufacturer, owned by the Indian company Tata Motors since 2008.
Founded in 1922 as the Swallow Sidecar Company, then renamed SS Cars Limited in 1935, the name was finally changed to Jaguar during the war due to the similarity of its SS marque with the similar insignia of the Nazi SS.
The Jaguar XK series was introduced in 1948 with the XK-120 (named after its top speed- the fastest production car available), followed by the XK-140 in 1955 and the XK-150 in 1958.
In 1961 Jaguar introduced the voluptuous and iconic XK-E. In March 2008 the Jaguar E-type ranked first in The Daily Telegraph “100 most beautiful cars” of all time and number one of the Sports Car International Magazine’s “Top Sports Cars of the 1960’s” in 2004.
Current Jaguar models are the XE, XF, XJ and F-type.
